Weekend Wrap Up

July 23rd, 2007 · 3 Comments

This weekend was a pretty sweet one. If fact, I would have to put it into the Top Ten Weekends That I Did Not Have Sex list. Lets get right to it, shall we?

As I posted on last Friday I went out to Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) to scope out a new television. During work on Friday I spent some time checking around the web (shut-up ya’ll do the same thing) for my next awesome purchase. I decided on a 42” plasma that was on sale. So after work on Friday I first headed out to Independence Mall to register for a 5K (more on that later) then drove all the way back west to NFM with a print out of the one that I wanted. But of course they did not have the one that I wanted. So, like I said I was going to do, I punched the salesman in the dick. While he was recovering I asked the next salesman if they still had the no payments and no interest for 18 months he said that they were currently not offering that deal and if it was a deal breaker. Fuck yea it was a deal breaker. He then said he would check with his manager. I said yea you better. He gets back and asked what kind of car I drove their. SUV I said do you think it will fit in the back? If it doesn’t we can strap it to the top, I said. GREAT! You got the 18 month deal. That news was so awesome it gave me an erection.

So with the new television and a stand in the back of the GMC I headed home happier that a cat covering up shit, happier than a roster in a hen house, happier than a seven peckered bill goat, happier than a Marine on shore leave. I get home and unload the 1000 pound (estimated weight, actual weight is unknown) monstrosity myself and went to bed.

Saturday I got up early to run in the 1st annual Run to the Sun 5K. It was in the caves off of 291 highway in independence, Missouri. The run was pretty good. I felt really good all the way though. I finished in 30:36 but by my watch it was 30:30. Either way it’s an all time best so I’m pretty proud of it.

When I got home from the race I got bizzay putting together the stand and hooking up the new television. Surprisingly, it went off without a hitch. I usually have tough time putting stuff like that together but this time I read the directions. And 2 and a half hours later, ALAKA-PRESTO! We had picture! I then put away all of the boxes and text messaged everyone in my cell phone to tell them the good news.

I really wasn’t as excited about getting this purchase as I was in my last major purchase. Mostly, because I HAD to get a new tv (btw is it TV, T.V., tv, or t.v.? I can’t figure it out) the laptop wasn’t a need it was a want, not a necessity, and yes me having an awesome television, IS a life necessity, like eating and pooping.

I then watched some T.V. and took a nap. Running a 5K and hooking up a television takes a lot out of you when your 36 years old.

Saturday night I went out the Buzzard Beach Girl. What a train wreck that date was! Needless to say I won’t be seeing her again. I’ll just say this she is a really nice girl. We had about as much in common as the poop and mashed potatoes. Besides she was 22 years old. I think that’s a little young for me.

Sunday I did a bunch of much needed lawn work. I trimmed the bushes and cut the grass. Of course I picked the hottest part of the day to do so I was pretty much drenched with sweat by the time I was finished.

That’s it for me. Now I’m going to work on my next epic post hopefully I will have it finished by midweek.

Thanks for reading! Have a nice week

UPDATE: I forgot to mention my next race is Sunday August 12th it’s the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K it’s one of the, if not the largest race in Kansas City. You should really consider taking part in it in some aspect. You don’t have to run the 5K. If you want you can walk it. I think they have shorter 1 mile walk. If that’s more your speed. Click the link to find out more about it and to register.

Poop and mashed potatoes: both somewhat creamy consistency…sometimes lumpy.

    Sometimes accompanied with brown gravy.

Congrats on your new fantastic plasma screen! It makes me think about upgrading from the 13″ Sponge Bob…

Suggestion: Don’t date girls that go to Buzzard Beach. :)
