Tonight I had a frozen pizza for dinner. As I was cutting the pizza with a pizza… Knife? Cutter? I started to wonder…
How many pieces I should cut this pizza into without looking like a total douche bag.
So, I put out the question to the twitterverse. How many slices do you cut your frozen pizza on too?
I got a some interesting and unexpected responses. One of which I didn’t even think was legal to do in this country. was cutting it in to 6 slices. Which I think is total crap, who cuts a pizza like that? I’m sorry but that is just CRAZY talk. You always, ALWAYS, cut the slices in half. The first cut gives you 2 halves, the 2nd and 3rd cuts give you 4 slices, and the 4th and 5th cuts gives you 8 slices. The only way to get 6 slices of pizza out of a pizza (unless its a square pizza, and if you eat square pizzas just stop reading now and punch yourself in the face) is to have your first cut not go all the way though the pizza. WHO DOES THAT?!? It’s un-American that’s what it is!
So I ask you, my fellow Americans, when you cut a pizza at home, how many slices do you end up with?
I ended up with 8 but I usually go with I my 4 slices. But next time I’m going with the Pizzarito. And the next time will most likely be about 2 or 3 am on Saturday night.

I think I’m the one who suggested 6 slices (because I’m usually not hungry enough to eat 8 slices).
As far as the geometric technique for achieving the six-slice pizza, I think you’re mistaken. Your argument above (“The only way … is to have your first cut not go all the way through the pizza”) is valid for a three-slice pizza.
But a six-slice is pretty simple. You just make one cut all the way through the pie (so you have two halves). Then rotate the pizza about 33 degrees and make another cut all the way through. Repeat one more time and you’ve got six slices.

Emaw – your not the only one who suggested 6 slices. I agree that there may be many ways to get 6 slices out of a pizza. My point is that every slice must go through the entire pizza. There by doubling the number of slices with each cut. By not cutting though the entire pizza I’m pretty sure you’re committing high treason. Please turn yourself on to the nearest police station. (I types this with my iphone and it forever!)

It depends on how many people will be sharing said pizza.
If it’s only you, dispense with the cutting altogether and just fold it up like a taco and go at it.
I’ve always wanted to do that with a little Totinos, but even I’m not that hoggy.

It’s easy to make 6 slices, The D. Cut your first line, then rotate it 90 degrees. Then cut an X all the way across. Duh!!!!!
