Page 13 – Anonymous Comments

I read this post yesterday on Mashable.

It basically says that people that leave comments on articles or blog post under anonymous or pseudonyms leave better quality comments, and that they leave more comments than people who use their real names.

I have to say that I agree with what the article says. I think anon comments are funnier, and more constructive comments on post that have a serious subject matter.

I also tend to leave more comments as The D instead of my real name. Also, I don’t want to know the real name of some people. I think their anonymous comments and post are better than their real life personae.

What do you think? If you use a pseudonym, or an alias to leave comments, do you also post using your real name?

Depends on the website/blog/forum. Most anon comments I read on the Star’s website are trollish / written by tools. They’re unaware that just because you CAN type doesn’t mean you should.

My alias contains my real name, so I guess I’m on the fence. Quality of my comments is negligible since I post them so very infrequently.

That said, I vote that you do the Trolley Run and offer the same kind of postmortem as your previous runs. It might motivate me to stop drinking so much Boulevard product and dust off my Saucony shoes / put them to use again.
