Sometimes it’s hard for me to find the motivation to workout. Last year I had no problem at all, getting motivated for 5 mile run, either on the treadmill or outside. But for some reason this year I’ve have had a hell of a time getting pumped up to either run on the treadmill, or outside, or the elliptical, or to even lift weights.
It doesn’t matter what the song is actually about. What matters is what I (The D) take from the song. It’s the motivation that I get from the song, is what is important.
Here are the songs that are currently motivating me to get off my fat ass and workout. I also included a little story about one or two of them just for shits and giggles. I had to include some videos because I couldn’t find that particular song on SeeqPod. Or course there are other songs that pump me up for a hour long work out but these are just a few.
(Wait for the track to load before you hit play there’s a lot of them so give it some time.)
Rev Theory – Hell Yea
Kiss – War Machine – When I was in the Marine Corps we were doing training for our deployment to Somalia. We were designated as The Helo company which means were flew in Helicopters everywhere, or Helos, as we called them. Whenever we were practicing some kind of assault on the enemy while flying to the LZ (landing zone) we would listen to this song though the helo’s intercom system over and over. Course it helped that the pilots were HUGE Kiss fans. When our section leader asked if it was possible to plug a cd player into all of the earphone jacks that we had, he said he would only play one song and this was it. It totes ROCKS! It makes me think of the good old times when I was in my early 20′s practicing to KILL! That’s what the Marine Corps infantry is trained to do.
Disturbed – Ten Thousand Fists
Foo Fighters – Once and For all. Hey it’s my theme song for 2008 you didn’t think I would have left this rocker off the list did ya?
Disturbed – Stupify
Disturbed – Down with the Sickness
AC/DC – Hells Bells
Guns ‘N’ Roses – Nightrain (MORE COWBELL!!)
Three Doors Down – It’s Not My Time
Default – Wasting my Time
Led Zeppelin – When The Levee Breaks
The Who – Won’t Get Fooled Again
Queen – One Vision
Foo Fighters – Long Road to Ruin
Guns ‘N’Roses – Out ta get me.
Some of the songs are a bit obscure, I know, some are new some are old, or classic rock, if you will. But the good thing is Emaws fav Richard Cheese sings most of them.
So what motivates you to workout?
What motivates you to sit on the couch all the live long days?
What motivates you to do anything?
I want to know.
(If some tracks dont play let me know. I’ll fix the link at lunch or at night)

Wow, it sounds like you and I have the same music collection. That Rev Theory song is my official Summer of 2008 song. I want to get my band to play it.
