Tonight, I officially signed up for the Pilgrim Pacer 10k. It’s on Nov 14th, which just happens to also be my EXACT 39th birthday. What are you doing for your birthday? Getting drunk, crying in your beer, about how old your getting? Complaining about how fat you are, or about your dead end job?
Don’t get me wrong, I complain about that stuff too, but there is no complaining about that stuff on my birthday.
SCREW THAT!
I enjoy my birthdays because it just proves that I didn’t do anything stupid enough to kill myself or anyone else in the last year. I look at my birthdays as a celebration. A reason to party once a year. Besides of the fact that its probably the only day of the year that your horoscope will actually come true. It’s also the only day that everything MUST be about you, the birthday boy/girl.
It’s only a 10k (6.2 miles) because I’ve already done one half marathon 2 years ago. I’ve also done numerous 5k’s and another 10k. (You can read all about all of them on the left under “What the HELL am I Running From?) But those were all 2 years ago before I came down with a bad case of plantar fasciitis. But I’ve licked that shizz and I’m rocking and rolling now. W00T!
I ran a 10K Monday night on the treadmill at the gym in 1:20 I need to knock off 25 min or so from that time in order to finish with respectable time. At least that’s the goal, to finish 6.2 miles in less than one hour. Which I have no idea how to do. Do I run one mile sprints? Do I map out a course and just run that all the time? I really have no idea how to get faster. I also need to start looking at some cold weather running gear.
I’ll figure something out.
Just to remind you, my birthday is only 30 shopping days away.
