I worked late on Christmas Eve-Eve (that would be the 23rd for you dimwits) Which meant that I was going to have to make a couple of stops on the way to moms for Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange.
Of course I slept later that I wanted to so I didn’t get moving until 2 o’clock. The New Orleans Krewe arrived in town about noon and were already at moms.
I stopped by Wally world, on Roe, for a couple of gift cards for the step-brothers kids. His daughter actually asked for a gift card from Wal-mart. They live in Blue Springs what did you expect? The boy got Itunes gift cards. As I was searching the extensive electronics section (all 2 rows of it) I could have sworn I saw Tony for Tony’s Kansas City. But I wasn’t 100% so I didn’t say any thing to him.
Then I had to stop off at Build-A-bear at Oak Park Mall for a gift card for my niece Nicole. I don’t bother driving around the parking lot looking for the best spot. I drive past the front door to see if I’d get lucky (and I get lucky about a much as I do at bars with the women folk, NEVER) then just head down a row. It saves time and effort.
But as I’m getting off the highway on to 95th street my niece Sophia calls me and tell me that I better get over to moms or I’m going to have to eat PICKLES!!
As I walk in the door to moms she comes running up to me telling me that I was “late and that I’m going to have to eat pickles.”
The D: “What?!? Why do I have to eat pickles, I don’t like pickles.”
Sophia: “You have to eat pickles because you were late, Uncle D!!”
The D: I’m not late I’m a hour early I was supposed to be here by 5 its only 4.”
Sophia: “No! You were supposed to be here at 1 O’CLOCK! Now you have to eat pickles or GO HOME!”
Long story short I did neither. But I did ask her to reenact the scene on Christmas Day so I could film it.
Here’s what I got.
Seams like Im always getting bossed around by those kids.
