This laptop is WICKED busted!

It has an 80 gig HD and is 4 years old. And has a busted hinge so it’s very difficult to take anywhere. I keep thinking the hinge is going to break right off.

The hard drive is the one giving me the issues. It’s constantly telling me that it’s full. So I check out the properties and sho nuff it’s totally packed. So I buy a T1 external HD for like 65 bucks from Microcenter. Copy all my pics, videos, music, and all that jazz.

But it’s still giving me the message. So then I removed all the programs that I don’t need. That didn’t help either, still getting the Full Hard Drive message (that’s what she said).

So I figure I have 4 choices, each with it’s own pros and cons.

Buy a new lap top. I already have every thing that I would want to keep on the new T1 HD. I have one picked out that’s gonna cost me $450.00. This would be the easiest to do.

Transfer EVERYTHING to the T1 external drive and use that as the C drive (currently its designation is drive F) But all that does is just give me more storage space. It doesn’t upgrade anything (did I mention its 4 years old with a busted hinge?) Plus I googled how to do that, and it’s WAY above my knowledge of computers.

Dump the whole laptop idea and go back to the standard PC which I still have but would need to be upgraded. New monitor, tower everything. This would cost the most.

Ditch the laptop, get an Ipad2. I would still upgrade the PC but I wouldn’t get a new monitor or any other peripherals like printer, keyboard. An ipad2 is would cost $500-$600 bucks depending on which gig I were to get.

The cheapest option would be for one of you experts to tell me what files are safe to delete off of the existing laptop.

So that’s the sit. If you were me what would you do. Besides hide in the corner in the fetal position crying your self to sleep. cuz I never to that, umm no not at all.

Very truely Yours,

The D

Back in January or February I bought some Lopping Shears from the Ace Hardware in Westport. They were on sale for a good deal and I new I was going to need them to trip the plumb tree that’s in front of the house. Another reason I bought them was that the label said the handles were made out of titanium. The same material that golf club handels are made out of, so I thought KICK-ASS!

Today was the day to bust them out and finally get that dam tree trimmed. It’s gotten so big that it’s branches hit my car when I drive past it when I pull into or out of the driveway.

Long story short here are the lopping shears when I started.

Yes that is my shoe.

I cut down 2 stinking limbs, then disaster struck. I was cutting the 3rd limb and snap!

Stupid POS’s.

Apparently I’m much more powerful than I thought or they weren’t actually made out of titanium.

So I’m still busy with that project at work, but it goes out 100% Thursday night. The other day I asked my boss to send me the total number of hours that I have spent on it. There were 1600 hours budgeted in it for me. There are 2080 regular hours in a year so if your math is the same as mine 1600 is roughly 7 months worth of work. I’ve spent 1300 and change on it. Both regular hours and overtime hours. I started the project in December. So I’ve been at it for 5 months. Two weeks ago I spent 81 hours on it in one week. So I have about 300 hours under the limit. I wonder if I’ll get some kind of super bonus at the end of the year? Probably not.

What made this project so difficult was that I was learning 2 differnt programs while still keeping up the production of the drawings. Also setting the foundatiuon for how things are going to run when other designers are going to use these programs. 3d modeling is much more difficult that your standard 2d AutoCAD drawings.

This weekend was only my 2nd weekend all year that I had the whole weekend off.

I mowed the lawn and watched the NFL Draft. Saturday night I walked up to The Twin, drank too much, and came home. Sunday woke up at 12:30 turned on the race a then woke up at 5:30.

That was a good weekend.
