People piss me off, and what better time than my triumphant return to constant, 3-4 days a week, blogging than to tell you about how some people make me want to kick a puppy and punch a horse.
In the first installment of “Airing of Grievances” I let lose on Twitters, Christmas decorations, people that can’t RSVP, pretentious people, people that censor their cuss words, and d-bags that wear the hats backwards.
In this installment I have a only one problem but there are many guilty douche bags parties.
My problem is with people that don’t show their full RSS feeds in Google Reader or any other reader like Bloglines. I only use Google reader so I’m focusing on that.
Hearne Christopher Jr. formerly of the Kansas City Star and now runs his own site at KC Confidential.com and the people that run The Pitch web site.
Both and many others, are guilty of the same infractions.
First, to the The Pitch and all your stupid ass “blogs” which aren’t blogs if the first place. They are articles, stop calling them blogs. If any of them, Fat City, Plog, and Wayward were blogs then the authors of your articles would be called bloggers, they aren’t, they’re writers. And another thing “Plogs or Plog” is not a word. People that make up their own words are d-bags. (I have a whole other post educating you, and other members of the media, on the difference between blogs, articles, writers, and bloggers coming up. You’ll have to wait to be schooled on the difference.)
Now to the both of you a-holes.
What’s wrong with you people? How many people have complained to you about you NOT providing your readers who use RSS feeds to read web sites and (real) blogs, with full RSS feeds? What is up with this partial feed bullshit? Seriously, I want to know how many complaints you have gotten? I can give you names of at least 126½ people that have asked me about the both of you.
Friend: “Hey, The D, why doesn’t the whole article from The Pitch (or from KCConfidential.com) show up in my Google reader.”
The D: “Because the people that run the site over at The Pitch are fucking morons, that don’t care what their readers think. And Hearne is still new at it so give him time.”
But I’m sure someone has told Hearne to switch his RSS to full feed text. I bet he just doesn’t know how to switch his feed to full or he’s to proud to ask.
If you think you’re getting more hits my making people go to your site to read the entire article you’re wrong.
Both of you need to read and learn from this post.
Here is one of the money shots from that post:
Partial feeds don’t give enough information, make it frustrating to read feeds and waste my valuable time. As a reader, partial feeds are just about enough to make me unsubscribe to a feed. Partial feeds will not grow your readership, but full feeds might.
Pitch your writers are good writers, when compared to someone like me. But that’s like comparing flag football to the NFL. The writers at the Pitch nor Hearne are good enough to get my attention in the first 150-250 characters that would want me to continue reading the article.
For both of you, you’ll both get more hits and more comments if I, and others, could read your entire article in our RSS readers. We would be more likely to comment and to share your information with others. I personally have over 50 people that I share content with via Google reader. And those blog post and articles that I do deem worthy enough to share with those 50 people are posted in “The Trone” in the top left of this blog. My readers know I share some good shit. But there is no way in hell I’m going to share a partial RSS feed. Because I won’t read the whole article or blog post.
This is what I see in my Google reader from KC Confidential.com:

This is what I see when I try to read any thing from The Pitch articles.
(click to embiggem)
What makes it even worse is that even if I do chose to go to your site. I still have to click AGAIN to read the entire post, or in the case of the The Pitch the entire article.
You two need to get your shit together, and fast. Believe it or not your losing readers and subscribers every day. TKC can’t support you forever.
If you’re worried about readers going to your site and possible clicking on your advertisers. (FYI: No one, and I mean NO ONE, clicks on yours or anyone elses adds.) See the full feeds of Deadspin. Their advertisements come though in their full feeds.
If you don’t unfuck your selves soon then I’ll just delete your stupid asses. Right now I just click the mark all as read button.
My Grievances have been aired.
Y’all keep Hangin’ and Bangin’!

D, I know I complained in Pitch’s comments and in a separate post. The people who run their blogging platform are incompetent schmucks. They have decent content but leaving comments there is a pain in the ass since it never remembers my name and you can’t subscribe. Partial feeds are retarded and annying no matter who you are.
On the unrelated note:you look like Babe Ruth.

The folks running the whole Pitch Web site have got to be a pack of asshats. Not only have I said something about the full feed deal (so that 127.5 ppl) but their events cal and search tools are absolute crap.

The D, you hit on one of my numero uno BIGGEST pet peeves in the blog world. I HATE having to click thru to read the small feed blogs. My opinion is if you want someone to read your stuff, put it all in one place. Grrr!

You know, I had just gotten over being angry about this after months of daily bitching, a lot of comments on Pitch blogs, and even a short-lived boycott. Now I’m mad again, but I suspect it is the parent company’s fault since all those papers seem to use the same software and probably have to use the same features.

Tony – I’m totally serious about the post explaining the diff between blogging and writing articles.
Meesha – I don’t think I ever tried to leave a comment. I’ll take your word for it. You spelled annoying wrong.
Mike – I’ve never searched their site but if its anything like the rest of the site I bet it sucks donky balls.
Moxie – Partial feeds are actually #2 on my list. Number one is people calling web sites blogs that clearly aren’t blogs. I’m constructing a post about it now.
DLC – Wasn’t there a Pitch dude on the Mission Twittical Pub Crawl? Anyone say something to him about their feed?
